The one where Friends is the world's most popular sitcom, 27 years on.

A show that was a massive hit from 1994 to 2004 for a total of 236 episodes, was based on six close adults experiencing all that life has to offer in their 20s, living in the big city of Manhattan.

The popularity isn’t down to nostalgia to those of 30 and 40 age groups that watched it on their small screens but also the new generation of binge-watching-teenagers around the world who see themselves in at least one of the six characters with the way they act and the situations they get themselves involved in.

It is the complicated and more often than not relating to these characters for their personalities have made the world fall in love with the show.

Whether it be Monica’s overbearing and bossiness trait yet her organisational skills are unmatched, Rachel’s energetic and playful nature, even though she gets teased for being a push-over from time to time, or maybe it could be Phoebe’s strong stance on animal and environmental rights, fluent in French, as well as being a singer/songwriter but also can be dim-witted.

As for the boys, Ross always had the need to be right, along with his insecurities and high ego, however, he was intelligent, mature and very put together. Unsurprisingly, fans would relate when it came to Chandler for his constant sarcasm comments and less so for his brash demeanour but he was the most financially secured character, last but not least the good-natured, food-loving and charming, but promiscuous and clueless, Joey, a struggling actor, broke, without a plan B, symbolises the ideal teenager of today.

It is important to mention the fact that Friends was launched before any social media platform was created, which makes it seem simpler and fascinating and somewhat complex, to the current generation of teenagers and young adults, as to what sort of conversations were talked about between a group of people, without the urge to bring up anything relating to social networking sites.

The show embodies being in the present moment by enjoying the interaction within their social circle by always being together in person, which it is not a common occurrence to mention something of the sort like that in today’s day and age, where most communication occurs via smartphones.

Early last year, it was announced by WarnerMedia that the original cast and creators would reunite for an unscripted special episode on May 27, for which it will bring the laughter and the memories back to the loyal fan base of this sitcom.
